General Information

Introduction

We welcome outstanding and talented prospective graduate students from around the nation and the world to apply for Graduate Studies. Besides national students, KFUPM currently has international graduate students from 28 different nationalities. This adds to the richness & diversity of the academic and research environment at KFUPM.
The University currently offers 30 Master programs and 10 Doctoral programs in a full range of traditional disciplines, as well as interdisciplinary programs that anticipate market trends and respond to national needs. KFUPM provides full MS and PhD scholarships for distinguished graduate applicants who demonstrate high potential for conducting original research in the fields of Engineering, Sciences and Business.

Online Application

All graduate admissions are administered by the Deanship of Graduate Studies (DGS). Candidates who intend to enroll in graduate programs at the University need to submit an online application available on the website of DGS on the link http://www.kfupm.edu.sa/gs/application/preonline.asp. The online application is available only during the application periods according to the posted application deadlines on the linkhttp://www.kfupm.edu.sa/gs/main/deadlines.asp . The graduate admission is open twice a year for the two semesters: The Fall Term (usually starting in September) and the Spring Term (usually starting in February).
After submission of the online application, mandatory documents need to be uploaded through the Upload System using the same Login ID and PIN created for the online application using this link: http://adgs.kfupm.edu.sa/
Mandatory documents for application (without which application will not be processed)
  1. Copy of identification (National ID for Saudi nationals / Passport for international applicants / Iqama for residents of Saudi Arabia).
  2. Complete official transcripts for BS degree and MS degree (if applying to PhD).
  3. Statement-of-Purpose (a one-page essay focusing on career and research goals).
  4. Recommendation Letters from 3 Professors through the online recommendation system after submitting the online application.
  5. GMAT scores for MBA program (for international applicants).
Other supporting documents (needed for final admission decision)
  1. Certificates for BS degree and MS degree (if applying to PhD).
  2. TOEFL score (min. is 68 iBT for MS and 79 iBT for PhD).
  3. Acceptable GRE General score (min. Quant. is 700, min. Analytical is 3.0).
  4. Upon approval, original/certified copies of degree certificate(s) and transcript(s) are to be sent through postal mail.

Graduate Scholarships:

Two types of assistantships are offered to enrolled Master students:
  • Graduate Assistantship: Open to exceptional Saudi Graduate Assistants continuing MS degrees at KFUPM, who display outstanding performance in their Bachelor education.
  • Research Assistantship: Open to national and international Master students, whose performance is exceptional in their Bachelor education.
Two types of lectureships are offered to enrolled Ph.D. students:
  • Lecturer: Open to exceptional Saudi Lecturers continuing Ph.D. degrees at KFUPM, who perform excellent in their Bachelor & Master education.
  • Lecturer-B: Open to national and international exceptional Ph.D. students, whose performance is exceptional in their Bachelor & Master education.

Part-Time Education

Like most reputed international universities, KFUPM also offers this flexible opportunity to working individuals who are interested to pursue higher studies. Such students are charged a modest tuition fee. This prospect is limited to the nationals and residents of the Kingdom.

Research Technician in Experimental Engine Combustion
Job Type: Research
The Clean Combustion Research Center (CCRC) at KAUST is looking for an experienced Research Technician to join the Center's world-class team and assist research in Experimental Engine Combustion. The Research Technician will support research activities within the Center. The position will remain open until filled. The advertised position is full-time and characterized by highly competitive salary and benefits.
This position is very technical and requires a candidate with extensive knowledge of advanced engine test cells operation and maintenance. The candidate will be responsible for operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of advanced engine test cell and advanced emission analyzers typical of engine test cell. Performs tasks/projects within a large-scope project, assuring quality, cost-effectiveness and timely delivery. Work with engine experimentalists and provide technical advice and assistance. Monitors junior staff to ensure the correct and safe procedures are followed. Perform other miscellaneous related duties as needed.
Major Responsibilities:
* Install test engine and its relevant equipments into test cells and preparing them for a variety of tests.
* Operating, maintenance and troubleshooting of advanced engine test cell which includes advanced single cylinder research engines (gasoline, diesel, metal and optical) and advanced emission analyzers typical of engine test cell.
* Preparation of test engines, which includes mounting, instrumentation (sensors, actuators, etc), changing/swapping parts and performing necessary fabrication.

Technical Skills:
Applications will be considered in the light of a candidate's ability to meet the following criteria:
* Experience in the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of advanced single cylinder research engines (gasoline, diesel, metal and optical) and advanced emission systems.
* Experience with engine emission bench operation, maintenance and measurement techniques (AVL, Horiba, ...etc).
* Experience with testing equipment operation, maintenance and measurement techniques (e.g., soot meter, micro-soot sensor, SMPS, ...etc).
* Experience in specifying, integrating and troubleshooting typical engine test cell such as dynamometer, conditioning units (air, fuel, oil), fueling system, ...etc.
* Experience in specifying, integrating and troubleshooting sensors and actuators commonly used in engine test cell.
* Should be able to utilize INCA ETAS software and combustion measurement technique such as CAS and INDICOM.
* Personnel who have good experience in optical engine and optical/laser-based experimental methods or gas analyzing techniques such as GC and FTIR will be favored. Knowledge of electrical grounding and shielding techniques, programming experience in NI LABVIEW are preferred.
* Ten (10) or more years experience in engine combustion in industrial or applied research laboratories.

* Excellent English writing, communication and inter-personal skills
Required Education:
The position requires a Bachelor or Master's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering or Physical Sciences.
