Post Doc In Physics @ University of Houston

Perform scientific research at the ion beam processing laboratory in the Texas Center for Superconductivity at UH, operate and maintain laboratory operations and equipment, train students, participate in preparation of scientific proposals and publications, and present work in local/international conferences.
The applicant should also be experienced in operation and maintenance of ion sources, tandem accelerators/beam lines, and ion implanters.
The following qualifications are highly preferred:
  • Metal nanoparticle synthesis by ion implantation. Modification and control of embedded nanoparticle morphology by MeV energy ion beam and ion-laser co-irradiation. Nanoscale control of implantation induced synthesis by use of stencile mask. Fabrication of nano-scale implantation mask by focused ion beam and chemical synthesis of implantation mask.
  • Luminescence propertied of ion-irradiated surface and ion-bombardment-induced nano-structured materials.
  • Nanoscale patterning of the solid surface by energetic ion beam irradiation. Dynamics of patterned surfaces under ion bombardment, scaling properties.
  • Morphological, compositional and structural analysis of ion beam modified surface using Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM), Scanning electron Microscopy(SEM), Transmission Electron Microscopy(TEM), X-ray microanalysis(EDS), Rutherford Backscattering Spectrometry(RBS) and Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry(SIMS).
  • Ion implantation in semiconductor and related effects, study of damage and recrystallization of solid and subsequent redistribution of implanted species under annealing.
