School II - Institute of Theoretical Physics/ Research Training Group 1558 (GRK1558) „Nonequilibrium Collective Dynamics in Condensed Matter and Biological Systems“
Reference number: F0-686 (to be filled from 01.10.2012 or 01.12.2012 for up to 18 month, extension to 3 years in the second funding period is planed, closing date for applications 26.07.2012)
Working field: The Research Training Group, funded by the German Science Foundation (DFG), and associated with the Technische Universitat Berlin and its partner institutions, the Potsdam University, the Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt, and the Fritz-Haber Institute offers a platform for educating doctoral students in interdisciplinary research by applying and developing concepts for describing the collective dynamics of nonlinear dissipative systems chosen from three project areas: A Hard matter: Nonlinear transport and quantum optics in semiconductors B Soft matter: Collective dynamics and hydrodynamic interactions in complex fluids C Biological Systems: Self-organization and non-linear waves in active media. Requirements: as a successful candidate you should hold a master, diploma degree or equivalent in physics. Applicants should have expertise in theoretical work related to the project area they are interested in.
