The
School of Physics at the University of Sydney is one of Australia’s
leading physics schools, undertaking world-class research and teaching.
The school hosts a node of the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre
of Excellence for Particle Physics at the Terascale (CoEPP), involving
the University of Melbourne, the University of Adelaide, Monash
University and the University of Sydney along with several overseas
partners. CoEPP provides the enhanced capability and institutional
coordination and development needed for Australia to make a major
contribution to one of the most prestigious of international projects,
the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC), whilst at the same time
contributing to advances in theoretical particle physics in light of LHC
results.
To
succeed you should hold a PhD in theoretical particle physics by the
time of appointment and demonstrate a proven record for excellent
research.
The
positions are available from early 2013 and are full-time fixed term
for two years, subject to the completion of a satisfactory confirmation
period for new appointees. There is some possibility of a further offer
of employment up to one additional year, subject to funding and need.
Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition
of employment for new appointees. Some assistance towards relocation
cost and visa sponsorship may be available for the successful appointee
if required.
Remuneration package:
up to $98K p.a. (consisting of a base salary level A, leave loading and
up to 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation). Level of
appointment will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
